Location Research

Jubilee Gardens, South Bank London:

Our short film is going to be set and filmed in only one location, we have chosen Jubilee Gardens at South Bank London for this. We decided on Jubilee Gardens for a few reasons:

  • It is very aesthetically pleasing as the river Thames can be in the background, as well as the London Eye, and it is a valued tourist attraction.
  • Jubilee gardens is opposite Waterloo railway station, making it easy to get to.
  • The trees and grass in the park will hopefully make for visually attractive shots if the weather is fine.
  • However, if it is rainy and windy, we can consider filming on a different day, or we could go ahead and film anyway. This wouldn’t be a bad idea, as the horrible weather could represent the awful feelings and message lying in the film (about the mother’s abuse), as a pathetic fallacy.

This is a map of the area, Jubilee Gardens is on the left, labelled clearly, close to Waterloo railway station:

The above photos show the area around Jubilee Gardens.

These photos show the grass of Jubilee Gardens which is where the film will be set. In the last picture there are several trees, the child in the film will be playing with her toys near one of the trees.

These shots show the area which the characters will walk down to get to the park, we may or may not keep these shots depending on how they look. This is because there will most likely be a lot of people around, and we don’t really want people bumping into us, or staring into the camera while we are filming.
