Post-It Love

"A shy girl meets a shy boy in the office and they find a new way of expressing their affection."

Throughout the whole film there is non-diegetic, upbeat music which shows that the theme of the film is going to be happy. The title, 'Post-It Love' pretty much sums up the film, as it is about love shown through the creativity and positioning of coloured Post-It notes. As there is no talking at all in the film, the acting has to be a little bit exaggerated. However, it is not exaggerated in such a way as a typical silent movie would have been, although it does take certain ideas from silent movies. In the earlier days of cinema when silent movies were being shown in cinemas, there would often be an orchestra in the room playing music in relation to what was happening in the film. In 'Post-It Love', the non-diegetic music is used the same way as the orchestral music would have been used. The director used close up shots to show how the characters felt, for example, there was a slow zoom in on the girl after she saw the final work of Post-It note art. This showed her amazement at what could be done with such a simple, everyday object, and the feeling which it portrayed. With the positioning of the Post-It notes, the camera also had to be positioned in a certain way to achieve the look of the film. The positioning of both of these could give the impression of something that wasn't actually happening. For example when the girl walked in the door and left her hand in the air, it looked as though she was holding the flowers but they were just Post-It notes on the wall.
